AstroPay has expanded its digital payment offering in Brazil through the local payment method, Pix.
Created and managed by the Central Bank of Brazil since its launch in October 2020, Pix’s payment volume totals more than 80% of debit and credit card transactions in Brazil.
With this extension, AstroPay will offer two ways to pay with Pix, via the native Pix view and the merchant software development kit (SDK).
The native view directs the user to the AstroPay checkout directly from the merchant’s site, while the Pix QR code will be displayed directly, avoiding any redirection to Pix’s site. This option will be available to all merchants and has already seen a 7% increase in sales conversions, up to 15%.
This process is available to any merchant with the AstroPay solution integrated via SDK.
Mikael Lijtenstein, CEO of AstroPay, said: “As an agile fintech company, we strive to provide our users and merchants with the best payment experience and constantly invest in technology to adapt to their needs.
“This new feature will help merchants better connect with their users who prefer to pay with Pix, which has revolutionized the payments industry in Brazil. By using the AstroPay wallet, users will enjoy a faster and seamless payment journey. friction with the payment method of their choice.”
This new capacity will allow AstroPay to pursue its expansion ambitions, with access to more than 200 merchants and 1.5 million users in the Brazilian market alone.
Following its launch in Brazil in December 2021, the past month has seen AstroPay expands its links across Latin America by introducing payment solutions in Peru, Chile, Mexico and Colombia for small and medium-sized businesses.
