DBP loans P1.286B for the first heart and brain center in CALABARZON

The Public Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) granted P$1.286 billion in financial support to a health facility based in Batangas to improve the delivery of basic and specialized health services in the region of Cavite-Laguna-Batangas-Rizal-Quezon (CALABARZON), a senior official has said.

DBP President and CEO Emmanuel G. Herbosa said the loan to Global East Medical Center Lipa, Inc. (GEAMC) under DBP’s Strategic Healthcare Investments for Enhanced Lending & Development (SHIELD) program the Bank will finance the construction of the first and only heart and brain center in Region IV-A.

“DBP’s credit support to GEAMC Lipa is in line with the Bank’s objective of providing essential financial support to private health care providers for the improvement of health service delivery to the Filipino people, especially to campaign,” Herbosa said.

Global East Medical Center Lipa Inc. is privately owned and operated by practicing physicians and business experts in the city of Lipa. The new facility is expected to boost the region’s ability to meet the growing demand for medical services which currently stands at 219,235 inpatient bed days and 150,621 outpatient visits.

Herbosa said that under the agreement, P1.136 billion will be used to partially fund the construction of a seven-storey Level 2 hospital strategically located along JP Laurel National Road in the city of Lipa, while the remaining 150 million will cover the acquisition of equipment and of medical machines.

Outstanding Child Advocates Recognized

The Saint Teresa of Calcutta (STCA) Prize has announced the 2021 and 2022 winners of the distinguished Philippines-based humanitarian awards after a one-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

Angela Maria Luna Pangan was named the 38th STCA Laureate for 2021, while Consuelo Misa Balbero was recognized as the 39th STCA Laureate for 2022. Both laureates were commended for their unwavering commitment to the welfare and protection of children.

Pangan is President and President of the NORFIL Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps neglected, abandoned, or disabled children access basic services, shelters, and rehabilitation programs.

HCPI supports Brigada Eskwela

Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) provided health and safety materials and equipment to Don Jose Integrated High School in Santa Rosa City, Laguna on August 5 as students and teachers anticipate the resumption of face-to-face lessons.
