Roma striker Tammy Abraham has enjoyed a blistering debut season in Italy under Jose Mourinho and could get his hands on a European trophy before the campaign ends
Roma striker Tammy Abraham has left the door open for a potential summer move after a stellar debut season in Serie A.
Abraham, who joined the Italian giants last summer from Chelsea for £34million, ended his league season on Friday night with two goals for Jose Mourinho’s side in their 3-0 win in Turin . The win secured him a place in the Europa League next season, and Abraham’s goals saw him end the Serie A campaign with 17 goals, setting a new record for an English player in Italy’s top flight.
The former Blues academy product has been heavily linked with transfer interests from Arsenal in recent months and would bring Abraham back to England, having spent the duration of his career there before moving to Italy last summer.
After his last game of the league season, Abraham was asked whether or not he will play his football at the Stadio Olimpico next season. Abraham said Roma have his heart but admits he is not ruling out a possible summer exit ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar later this year.
“I love this club,” Abraham told DAZN (as published by Football Italia). “They gave me the opportunity to show myself, my heart is here. We’ll see what the future holds, but my heart is here.”
While the league campaign in Italy is now over for Abraham, boss Mourinho and the rest of the Roma squad, they still have a major final to play against Dutch side Feyenoord. The two will play the first-ever Europa Conference League final on Wednesday night inside the Air Albania Stadium in Tirania, Albania.

Abraham is aiming for gold in the competition to mark the end of a campaign where he scored 27 goals in 52 appearances across all fronts, having been part of the Chelsea side that won the Champions League last season .
“It’s a dream come true for Roma fans, for the club,” added Abraham. “We have reached the final, now we need to rest and recover well, so hopefully we will celebrate on Wednesday night.”
Arsenal, who Abraham has been linked with, are set to play in the Europa League alongside Roma next season. They could still qualify for the Champions League on the final day of the Premier League campaign, but to do so they must beat Crystal Palace and hope Tottenham Hotspur lose to Norwich City, who have already been relegated.
Abraham’s record of 17 goals in a Serie A season breaks a 60-year record for the most league goals scored by an Englishman in Italy’s top flight. The record was previously held by former Aston Villa striker Gerry Hitchens, who scored 16 league goals in the 1961/62 campaign in his only full season at Inter Milan.
Roma have signed Abraham on a five-year deal, meaning any potential transfer exits and moves for the England international would cost clubs a significantly higher fee than what the Italian side have paid for him from Chelsea l ‘last summer.
Prior to his exit, Abraham scored 21 times in 58 Premier League appearances for Chelsea and was their top scorer in his only full senior Stamford Bridge in 2019/20 under Frank Lampard.
